Taking a foreign language can help you in many ways. If you know a foreign language you can improve your employment potential. In fact, France is the fourth largest producer of automobiles in the world (Renault, Peugeot, Citroën) and the third largest exporter. Also, research says students who know an additional language have a better understanding of their own. Today many colleges have a minimum requirement of two years of a foreign language, so learning another language can greatly help students there. Learning another language can help you appreciate international literature, music, and film. In addition, learning another language can help you make more friends. A particular reason that I took French was because I was getting bored of Spanish and wanted to try something different. I also took French because I like French food more than Spanish food. As you can see taking a foreign language (in my case, French) can help you out in the long run.
